provo boys.

An old post from a few months ago that I never published... haha. Some parts still true.

So, I'm sure this is something that all of the girls here in Provo are thinking, and maybe trying to come to terms with. Hold on, let me get on my soapbox. This has boggled my mind since I got here last year. Everybody raves about how fast people get hitched here, and how BYU is so fun because there are so many people that actually share your standards and beliefs. So naturally, one would think that you'd be getting asked out on dates every weekend, and if you never had a boyfriend in high school, girl, things are lookin' up for you! False. Contrary to popular belief, unless you are just so irresistible that everyone has their eyes on you, don't bother pulling out your red lipstick and that little black dress. If you think that won't happen to you, just put on some sweats and sit your butt down on the couch because you're going to be waiting for a looong time. But don't you think for one second that it has anything to do with you, unless you don't shower and you don't brush your teeth or something (although there are plenty of girls whose personal hygiene is lacking a bit who still have rings on their left hands). For whatever bizarre reason, I guess people get married out here without ever dating. Of all the girls I know (like in my ward) only a few have been on a handful of dates, or even one single date, this year. The others haven't even been asked on a date while living here. I don't know what sets some apart from others, but it seems like some girls get all the dates, and the rest are left alone.

lo.

summer catch up.

So, I'm sitting in the airport, waiting to board my plane to Houston, then on to Atlanta! It has been about six months since I last blogged. I'm slacking... So I figured, what better to do than to update while I have nothing to do! It has been seven months since I was last home. Since then, I finished my second year at school, Mackenzie moved back to Georgia and is now attending the University of Georgia in the spring, Megan started high school, and Mia Quinn was born just a few days ago. It's crazy to think that my mom was twenty years old when she had me, and I turned twenty this year!

She looks so much like a Brady. :)

Tomorrow, we will leave for the beach. Next week, Paige will get on the bus for the first time. Needless to say, I am ecstatic to see me family. It has been too long. But, in the meantime, Provo has been a blast. I went to Arizona for my friend Heather's wedding in May, Michelle surprised me (and what a great planned surprise it was!) for my birthday with a spaghetti/a lot of other disgusting things food fight in June, I watched a lot of episodes of Lost and ate a lot of banana pancakes with Amph in July, and I'll be back in August. The 4th of July was so much fun too! Two days before, we went to the Freedom Festival on Center Street in downtown Provo. There were a lot of booths set up. Abby and one of her friends had a booth set up where they sold chocolate strawberries. Yum :) So we walked around a bit, and we got free ice cream for taking a picture!

Then we watched a lady perform. Bless her heart, it was like karaoke. She should not have been given a mic. But then, a bluegrass/folk group, I'm guessing from BYU, got up and they were fantastic! They are called The Lucky Crickets, and they sounded so good. That really made me want to come home to the good ol' South.
So also new last week, my roommate, Michelle, got engaged to Russell, and I am so happy for them! It has been really fast, but they are both really happy. :) They are getting married on September 1st so I get to drive up to Idaho the first week of school to be one of her bridesmaids! So after all the trouble we went through to get her a contract for the fall, she is now selling it, haha.
The key to an interesting blog is definitely the pictures so I'm going to try to take a bunch of pictures while I'm visiting my family, especially of the cute little girls and of St. George Island while we are there. :)

Here's a little bit about my surprise party. So it was a Saturday and Michelle was trying to convince me all day that we should just stay in our sweats and be lazy and then go out to dinner later. But I really wanted to get showered and put on clean clothes. So we went to Zupas and while we were eating Michelle kept going to the bathroom. Mind you, at this point I was still oblivious. I didn't know that she was freaking out and trying to come up with a last minute plan with Stephen R. to get me to Rock Canyon Park. So after she came out of the bathroom (I thought she was having some serious issues), Stephen called me and said that it was really embarrassing but he was on a date and having car trouble at Rock Canyon Park so he wanted to know if I could pick him up. I had seen him leave earlier on a date so that was totally believable. So we drive over to the park, I see Stephen, and I follow him to where he says his date is. When we get over to the bowl (if you've ever been to Rock Canyon Park, you know what that is) and I see a few other friends and I was really confused as to what was happening. Then after what seemed like an eternity of my being completely ignorant, I realized what was going on. They got me good!
Michelle and Mel had made a bunch of spaghetti for the food fight. After that part, we went to the store for Round 2 and bought a bunch of chocolate syrup, flour, ketchup, and other gross things and had an even better food fight. It was a blast. Also really gross. I believe after that we went through (or attempted to go through) the car wash like we did after the food fight we had for Michelle's birthday. And then of course, HOT TUB!

And here's the evidence.

Hasta entonces, ciao.

Lo.
